Centre of Cultural Affairs
Centre of Cultural Affairs in the City of Kuopio guides the following service providers: Kuopio Music Centre, Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, Kuopio City Theatre, public libraries, the Kuopio Museum of Cultural History and Kuopio Art Museum. Centre of Cultural Affairs is administrated by Cultural Office. Kino-Kuvakukko Movie Theatre is in subordination to Cultural Office, too.

Centre of Cultural Affairs provides and participates in organising high quality, unique, also internationally appealing cultural services and cultural research significant to the region. Additionally, it is in charge of offering up-to-date information services as well as maintaining cultural heritage. It provides grants and facilities for individual professional artists.

All in all, Centre of Cultural Affairs aims at maintaining and safeguarding the operational environment of the city's cultural institutions and supports them in providing high quality cultural services according to the needs of customers, strengthening the cultural image of the City of Kuopio.

Decision on municipal cultural services and cultural issues of the City of Kuopio are made by the Cultural Committee, which consists of 9 members. The cultural director of the city, also being the head of the Cultural Services, presents issues for the Cultural Committee.

Cultural Office is responsible for the administrative services of the Cultural Committee by preparing and executing decisions made in the committee, providing support services for Centre of Cultural Affairs and counselling services in cultural issues targeted at residents. In addition, Cultural Office allocates grants to different cultural organisations, professional artists, cultural functions and art education aimed at the youth, and finally, is in charge of organising official festivities and participates in organising cultural events in cooperation with other service providers in the city.
