Satubaletti - Satu (Fairytale) Ballet

A solo dance piece for Satu Rekola by Tomi Paasonen. Her first name Satu, means ‘fairytale’ in Finnish. This piece is an autobiographical fantasy in two acts. Once upon a time there was a fairy tale... which was partly true.

Christmas at Old Kuopio Museum 5.12.2020–5.1.2021

In the traditional Christmas exhibition at the Old Kuopio Museum, you can experience what Christmas smelled like and used to look like. The homes in the museum quarter are dressed in Christmas costumes from the 19th century to the 1930’s. At the exhibition you will meet old-time Santa Claus and you can listen to christmas radio shows.

Independence Day of Finland 6.12.


Sunday 6.12. we celebrate the Independence Day of our beloved Finland. In Northern Savo, the day will be held in a new way when the traditional Independence Day celebration takes place online this year. Welcome to join our celebrations from your living room!

The online recording will be published on the 6th at 17.00. on the city's website www.kuopio.fi and Savon Sanomat's online service. There will be official celebrations like remembering the war heroesand the  city of Kuopio's banquet speech. The music programme for the online festival is by Kuopio Philharmonic Orchestra led by Jaakko Kuusisto.
