New Chief Conductor of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra is Eugene Tzigane
Eugene Tzigane was chosen as the new Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra starting from year 2023. His first concert season is planned for autumn 2023. The winner of many conductor competitions, Tzigane is known for his versatile musical background. He was a guest conductor of Kuopio Symphony Orchestra for many times since 2015.
New Chief Conductor Eugene Tzigane was born in Japan, lived on the both sides of Pacific Ocean and now influences in Europe. His contract starts at the beginning of year 2023, but autumn 2023 is Tzigane`s actual first season. The contract is two years long and includes two years additional option. ”I feel humility to be asked to lead Kuopio Symphony Orchestra and respect the confidence the musicians have addressed me. As I know the Orchestra and its improvement during the last years, I believe that we have artisticly invigorating times in front of us", notes Tzigane.
Eugene Tzigane has a versatile musical background and since his young years he was surrounded by music of different origins - from jazz to orchestra works. Tzigane had conductor studies in the respected Juilliard Music Academy and in Stockholm Royal Music Academy and has won many rewards in conductor competitions. He worked as a guest conductor in different orchestras, also in Japan and Australia. Besides he also conducted operas in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Stockholm. Tzigane often brought to Kuopio some forgotten artworks of minority composers.
