Most of the students at Pyörö Upper Comprehensive School will switch to distance learning from Monday 18 January onwards

The corona virus situation at Pyörö School has deteriorated. New exposures have been investigated over the weekend and the Infectious Disease Authorities have been identifying the infection chains.

In accordance with the order of the Infectious Diseases Authority, students studying in the building of Pyörö Upper Comprehensive School will switch to distance education from Monday, January 18, 2021 onwards. The decision to switch to exceptional teaching arrangements does not apply to students in preparatory education, students with extended compulsory education or students with special needs decision.

In practice, this means that during 18-29 January the teaching will be organized according to the normal school timetable in distance education, except for students in preparatory education, students with extended compulsory education or students with special needs decision.

Pupils in preparatory education, pupils in special education classes and pupils with special needs decision study at the school in contact teaching according to the normal school timetable. In the lessons, face masks are used and safety distance and good hand hygiene are taken care of. Pupils in contact teaching have lunch at school with their own teaching group during the school day.

Pupils in distance education are entitled to school meals. Learning support and student care operate normally also during exceptional teaching arrangements, utilizing remote connections.

Information on weighted teaching tests will be announced separately on Monday 18 January.

The City of Kuopio emphasizes that in Kuopio there is a mask recommendation in public interiors and whenever it is not possible to take care of safety distance. The mask recommendation applies to those over 12 years of age. Good hand hygiene must also be ensured.
