A brief introduction to Kuopio

The city of Kuopio, founded in 1775, is the 8th largest town in Finland. The population of the city is approximately 122 500. About 600,000 people live in the city's catchment area.

Uniquely for Finland, the Kuopio-Tahko region encompasses a vibrant city, with a diverse economy and an internationally recognised university, and one of the country's biggest year-round travel destinations within the same municipality.

Kuopio has many well-known features and landmarks, most notably the Puijo Tower and the Market Square.
