There are several private veterinary clinics in the Kuopio city centre and suburbs whose contact information can be found in the phone book and on their own websites.

For urgent veterinary treatment of small animals, the city of Kuopio has an agreement with private veterinary clinics in the Kuopio city district on weekdays between 8.00am and 4.00pm.  If your veterinary clinic is prevented from giving you help quickly enough and your pet requires it, contact another Kuopio veterinary clinic which provides urgent assistance.

Dog parks

Dog parks are fenced areas reserved for the outdoor exercising of dogs where they can be off the lead. In some parks there are two separate areas, one for bigger and one for smaller dogs. In other parts of built-up urban areas, dogs must always be on a lead in compliance with the law.
The urban area has about 1200 rubbish bins which can be used for dog waste.

Burial of small animals

In Hiltulanlahti (address Korsumäentie 34) a small animal crematorium, Tuulikello, is situated where cremations of small animals and pertaining services are counducted. The area also has a memorial grove where, if desired, pet ashes may be scattered.
