Social work for adults aims at preventing social problems by exploring the clients' life situation, strengths and difficulties. Social work services seeks alternatives that would improve life situation of their clients.

The need for home care, support services, housing services and informal care support for the elderly is initially assessed by telephone. If necessary, the client will be visited at home, or if the client is in hospital, a medical consultation will be arranged. If living at home is not possible, other housing options are explored.

Immigrants come to Kuopio for different reasons. Helping immigrants to settle in the city involves cooperation between different agencies.
