Home of facts and fantasies – There is no can’t in Kantti

Home of facts and fantasies combines the Kuopio Museum and the main library. The construction proceeds as planned. Upon its completion in the spring of 2021, this unique whole will provide a meeting space while generating experiences with the help of information and stories. During the summer, municipal residents got to choose the name for the new building. The winner was Kantti with 35.5% of the votes.

Enrollment for courses at Kuopio Community College (Kuopion kansalaisopisto) has started!

We offer over two thousand courses where students can learn new skills or continue to study subjects they enjoy. You can sign up by internet, by telephone 017 184 711, or in person at the Customer Service Desk at the Puistokartano (address: Puistokatu 20, Kuopio). For security reasons enrollment can not be done by email.

Vilkku city bikes available on 15.4.2020

The city of Kuopio has decided to make Vilkku city bikes available from 15.4.2020. As spring is already knocking at our doors we are preparing for a new biking season and the first bikes have already been brought to the city bike stations. However, the bikes are available for use from 15.4. onwards. The city also wishes that the city bikes will be useful as public transportation has been reduced.

Go for a walk or go biking in the wintry forests!

A great way to enjoy nature and forests even in the winter is to go biking or hiking in the woods. You can bike for example at Puijo, Tahko and Kurkimäki even during the winter months and there are also hiking trails to walk on. In addition, there are often fire pits along the trails so you can enjoy a picnic by the fire. You can find such for example in Puijonnokka and at Kurkimäki.
