The fourth Covid vaccination for persons of 18–69 years old, belonging to medical risk groups, starting from 1.8.2022

 
Medical risk groups for serious Covid infection
 
Persons, belonging to the medical risk group 1, have some disease or condition, which strongly exposes to Covid infection:
 
• Organ transplant or stem cell transplant
• Cancer treatment
• Serious defense system disorder
• Serious chronic kidney disease
• Serious chronic lung disease
• Type 2 diabetes with medical treatment
• Down syndrome
 
Persons, belonging to the medical risk group 2, have some desease or condition, which strongly exposes to Covid infection:
 
• Asthma, which demands a continuous medication
• Serious heart disease, among other things heart`s insufficiency (not just hypertension)
• Neurological disease or condition, which disturbs breathing
• Medical treatment for autoimmune disease, weakening immune defense
• Serious chronic liver disease
• Type 1 diabetes or kidneys`insufficiency
• Sleep apnea
• Psychosis disease
• Sickly fatness (weight index over 40)
• Pregnancy
 
Recommendation do not concider yet 12–17 years old members of medical risk groups, except over 12 years old seriously immune insufficient persons, who were recommended to get a fourth shot earlier already.
 
You can get the fourth shot at least three months after the third one. If you got a Covid infection, it is similar to one shot. If person had three shots and got a Covid infection, the fourth vaccination is not recommended. Exception - those, who got infected during 6 weeks after the shot. In this case the fourth shot is recommended.

The fourth Covid vaccine for everyone over the age of 70 from Wednesday 27.7.2022

In Kuopio, everyone over the age of 70 can receive the fourth shot of Covid vaccination from Wednesday 27.7.2022. The fourth vaccine shot can be given when at least three months have passed since the third shot.

Having had Covid marks as one shot of vaccine. If you have gotten three shots of Covid vaccine and been sick with Covid, you don’t need the booster now.

The fourth shot of Covid vaccine is given to 75+ years old starting from Monday 25.7.2022

THL has given a new recommendation about the fourth shot of Covid vaccines. THL recommends that the municipalities start giving the fourth shot of Covid vaccine for certain groups already during July or the latest from 1.8.2022.

In Kuopio it is possible for everyone over 75 years old to get their 4th shot starting from Monday 25.7.2022. The 4th shot can be given when at least three months have passed since the 3rd shot.

We continue giving the fourth shots also to the 70–75 year-olds that belong to the medical risk groups 1 and 2.

Vaccinations for persons over 12 years old

 
Covid vaccinations ended at the main Health Center Savotalo 1.4.2022.  
 
In future Covid vaccinations are centralized in Apaja vaccination center, under the Market Place.
 
Starting from Monday 4.4. all Covid vaccinations happen in Apaja. Open hours are Mon-Fri from 8 am to 3 pm. You can come by appointment or without it by walk-in principle.
 

Vaccinations for children under 12 years old

 
Children`s vaccinations also happen in Apaja vaccination center. Vaccinations for children under 12 year old will be organized once a month. Next vaccination days are 6.4. and 18.5.

If child got a Coronavirus infection 

 
First vaccination is recommended 4-6 months after Coronavirus infection and 2 months after infection for children with strong immune necessity. Infection counters to one vaccination. 
 
If child gets a Coronavirus infection after one vaccination, he or she doesn`t need another vaccination. If there are at least six weeks between the vacciantion and the infection, the infection counters to one vaccination.  
If child got ill under six weeks after the vaccination, we recommend the second vaccination 4-6 months after the infection. This way we will get a better immune reaction. 
 
If vaccine is given soon after the infection, it may cause strong reactions, such us fever, headache, pain in muscles and  joints. There are no obstructions for vaccination, even if you do not know whether child was infected or not.
