Tramp on Puijo

Puijo is particularly known as a viewing place. Indeed, from the top of Puijo Hill, 150 metres above Lake Kallavesi, there are spectacular views of one of our Heritage Landscapes. Puijo ridge is also of great importance as a recreation area and a valuable nature site. The most valuable parts are protected as a nature reserve covering an area of some 210 hectares. Almost all of the reserve is part of the EU Natura network.

There are many signed paths and trails on Puijo ridge. You can learn about the area's natural environment on three nature trails, each a couple of kilometres long. You can walk, ski and pick berries and mushrooms in the Puijo area. In the Nature Reserve and the sensitive herb-rich forests, please keep to the paths. Mountain bikes are only allowed on recreation routes.
