Kuopio has the most holiday homes in Finland in 2025

According to recent data from Statistics Finland, Kuopio still had the highest number of vacation homes in Finland at the end of 2025. There were a total of 10 261 vacation homes in the Kuopio area, which is significantly more than in the next-ranked locations Mikkeli (9 567) and Parainen (8 994).

There are a total of approximately 10 300 summer cottages in Kuopio. A figure explained by the extensive network of waterways and a strong tradition of vacation home ownership.

Between 2020 and 2025, 206 new vacation homes were built in Kuopio, which was the seventh-highest number in Finland during the period under review.
