Traditional Christmas exhibition at the Old Kuopio Museum 2.12.2025 – 4.1.2026

The museum houses are once again decked out in festive decorations from the 1800s to the 1930s. Come and experience what Christmas used to smell and look like. Admire the different Christmas trees decorated with edible treats, sparkling ribbons and balls, and decorations made from straw and newspaper. The old-fashioned Santa Claus amazes both children and adults alike.

After the museum tour, pop into Cafe Mandariini to enjoy Christmas pastries, porridge or a Christmas lunch.

Kuopio Museum on high alert for elves

Did you see a red cape flash by the window? No wonder! A record number of elf sightings have been reported at the Kuopio Museum exhibitions. Come and find Santa’s helpers hiding in the museum! Elf doors have also appeared around the Kuopio Main Library and the Kuopio Museum. They are part of the elf orienteering trail.

Take a break from the Christmas rush and sit down to enjoy a cup of hot coffee at Café Kantti.
