Women’s Swimming Session Trials at Lippumäki Swimming Hall

The City of Kuopio will offer three women’s swimming sessions at the Lippumäki Swimming Hall in spring 2026. The sessions will take place on Sundays: 8 March, 12 April and 17 May, from 19:00 to 20:30.

Lippumäki Swimming Hall will host three women’s swimming sessions in spring 2026. The first session will be held on International Women’s Day, 8 March 2026.

During the women’s swimming sessions, the pool facilities will be reserved exclusively for women and preschool-aged children. The men’s changing and washing facilities will remain in normal use. The upstairs sports hall at Lippumäki Swimming Hall will be closed during the women’s swimming sessions. Other sports hall areas will be available normally.

The women’s swimming session trial aims to gather information on whether a designated women’s swimming hour provides women and girls with a safe and easily accessible opportunity to participate in water-based exercise. The purpose of the trial is to encourage especially women and girls to engage in aquatic activities. Even at preschool age, girls tend to be less physically active than boys of the same age, and this difference in activity levels can also be seen later in life. For this reason, it is important to encourage girls and women to be physically active by offering a variety of opportunities for exercise.
