Finland Ice Marathon – a unique winter event on natural ice, February 20–21

Finland Ice Marathon (FIM) is one of Finland’s oldest and best-known winter sports events held on natural ice, bringing together fans of skating, pole skating and kick sledding every year to the natural ice of Lake Kallavesi in Kuopio. The event has been held since 1984 and offers an unforgettable experience in the Finnish winter landscape.

At the Finland Ice Marathon you can skate, pole skate or kick sled. You can compete for speed or just cruise along in the ENJOY series! Race distances range from 25 to 100 km. Hippo skating is free for children.

Friday 20.2. – Moonlight skating
Moonlight skating illuminated by torches from 6pm to 8pm – open to everyone

Saturday 21.2. – FIM competition day
The event starts at 8am
Several distances and events will be held during the day:

Skating: 100 km, 50 km (including Finnish Championship starts) and 25 km
Youth skating: 10 km and 2 km
Pole skating: 50 km, 25 km
Kick sledding: 50 km, 25 km
ENJOY series & family participation – In the ENJOY series, you can enjoy yourself without the pressure of timing!

Participation and registration

Registration and participation fees are open for different races and series.
The event fee includes a participation medal, maintenance services along the route, timekeeping and results service, meals, shower and sauna facilities, and participation in the FIM after party.

Currently, the 7.5 km track is open.
