The season for the city’s skating rinks and ice tracks has ended

The skating season has come to an end for Kuopio’s ice hockey rinks and skating tracks. The forecast for the coming weeks does not predict nighttime frost, so it no longer makes sense to maintain the outdoor ice rinks.

The Lippumäki artificial ice track will remain open for the time being, and attempts will be made to maintain the Kallavesi ice marathon track for at least this week, if possible. However, the situation and the development of the ice conditions are being monitored on a day-to-day basis at this stage, and rapid changes are possible.

The ice skiing tracks are also currently in such a condition that they cannot be maintained at all due to the water that has risen above the ice. When moving on the ice, beware of open water.

Maintenance of the trails will continue as long as the snow conditions allow, but in the sunniest spots, the ground is already visible.
