Recycled bricks and street art – Savonia UAS students design the future Itkonniemi
What if a casual visitor could borrow a rowing boat or skis? What if the kindergarten children could cultivate their own plot of land? Could street art bring changing artistic experiences to the area? Service design students from Savonia University of Applied Sciences come up with an idea of what the Itkonniemi area could look like in the future.
The results are on display in the Council House lobby (Suokatu 42) until 7 January 2025. Savonia University’s service design students collaborated and brainstormed what the Itkonniemi area could look like in the future. How the area’s past, reuse of materials, community, changing art, spontaneous movement and biodiversity could be implemented in a new residential area.
The exhibition features student ideas, implemented using the process and methods of service design.
Please feel free to write your own suggestions and encouragement in the prototypes!
