Another exciting winter break for children and young people in Kuopio!
There is plenty to do for schoolchildren of all ages and families every day, and between outdoor activities you can pop indoors for a variety of activities. There are plenty of free activities on offer.
The joy of exercise
Children under the age of 18 can swim for free at the Kuntolaakso and Lippumäki swimming pools during the winter break week from Monday to Friday 2.-6.3. all day long. At Kuntolaakso swimming pool there will be jumps from the diving tower and a Wibit water track
On Tuesday 3.3. Kauko’s Day swimming will be celebrated again, with swimming at both swimming pools free of charge for all customers, provided by Kuopion Energia. On Sunday 8.3. there will be a women’s swimming session at 17-20.30 at the Lippumäki swimming pool (fee according to the price list).
In honor of the winter holiday, children under the age of 18 can use the Kuopio Hall free of charge Mon-Fri 2.-6.3. at 8-16 if there are no other bookings for the facilities (there is a charge for the gymnastics area). The Kuopio Hall gym is open to those aged 15 and over.
Up-to-date ski trail information and maps are available at www.ladulle.fi/ladut/kuopio. Kuopio also has plenty of skating rinks and skating tracks. The Finland Ice Marathon natural ice skating tracks located at the Kuopio passenger harbor are of varying lengths and suitable for all ages.
Exhibitions, workshops and youth centers
The permanent exhibitions at the Kuopio Museum and Kuopio Art Museum offer enough to see and explore for a whole day. The main library hosts events such as Fan Days. Admission to the Kuopio City Museums, the Orthodox Church Museum RIISA, and the VB Photography Center is free for visitors under the age of 18.
The diverse program of the Winter holiday also includes various workshops and outdoor events throughout the city. Youth centers offer free activities for schoolchildren of different ages. Pinari offers crafts and climbing, and Jynäri – cooking and day competitions.
