City of Kuopio launched an easy-to-read website

City of Kuopio has launched its first easy-to-read web pages. The purpose of the pages is to provide clear and accessible information about the city’s services for a wide range of audiences, including people whose native language is not Finnish.
The easy-to-read website brings together concise information about life in Kuopio and key city services in one place. The language and content have been developed in cooperation with the Easy Language Centre’s assessment services. Easy-to-read language is a form of Finnish that has been adapted to be simpler and easier to understand than standard language.

The City of Kuopio’s main website is available in Finnish, English and in Russian. In recent years, the cognitive accessibility of the main website has also been improved through initiatives such as the Clearly for Us / Selkeästi meille project, carried out by the Finnish Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Kehitysvammatuki 57. As a result of this work, the City of Kuopio was awarded the Clearly for Us label.
