Välke Light Festival illuminates Kuopio on 16–18 October

The Välke Light Festival will illuminate various locations across center of Kuopio during the autumn holiday weekend from Friday to Sunday from 18:00 to 22:00. The event is open to everyone and free of charge.

For the duration of the festival, the city centre will be transformed by light installations created by Finnish and international light artists, offering visitors unique experiences and artistic highlights throughout the area.

The light installations extend from the Alava Church, through Kuopio Market Square and Snellman Park, all the way to the Harbour Square. Visitors are free to explore the artworks in any order they wish. A free street train operates throughout the event, making it easy to travel between the illuminated locations.
