Bilingual instruction (Finnish – English) grades 1 – 6
Rajala School provides bilingual instruction (Finnish – English) in grades 1 – 6. The pupils are admitted on the basis of a language capability test. They need proficiency in both Finnish and English in order to study in bilingual instruction. Their Finnish language proficiency is also tested. Applicants’ Finnish language skills are assessed on a pass / fail basis.
Participation in the language capability test is mandatory for all applicants. Failure to attend the test will always result in a negative admission decision.
Enrolment takes place via the online Wilma application using the “Peruskoulun ensimmäiselle luokalle ilmoittautuminen” form. When enrolling a child in school, you can also apply for bilingual education using the same form.
Information evening 2026 and language capability test 2027
An invitation to the language capability test will be sent to the guardian’s email during week 2, 2027. Guardians provide their email address on the school enrolment form.

Bilingual instruction (Finnish – English) grades 7 – 9
A pupil may apply for bilingual education (Finnish-English) for grades 7 – 9 while in grade 6. Admission to the bilingual (Finnish–English) grade 7 at Hatsala classical school is based on an entrance examination. They need proficiency in both Finnish and English in order to study in bilingual instruction. Students in the bilingual class (Finnish – English) at Rajala School must also apply and sit an entrance examination if they would like to continue in bilingual instruction at Hatsala Classical School.
All applicants are required to take the entrance examination without a separate invitation. Participation in the entrance examination is mandatory for all applicants. Failure to attend the entrance exam will always result in a negative admission decision.
Enrolment takes place via the online Wilma application using the “7.lk / Kotiosoitteen mukainen koulu ja hakulomake (painotettu opetus, kaksikielinen opetus, toissijainen koulu)” form.

If the school is not the pupil’s local school, the guardian is responsible for any costs arising from the pupil’s transport to and from school, including any necessary escorting arrangements. School transport may also be granted to a school other than the local school if the transport costs are equal to or lower than those of transport to the pupil’s local school. In such cases, travel must take place by public transport. The guardian must always apply for school transport using the school transportation application form. The guardian is also responsible for transport costs when the pupil requires transportation due to an illness or a leisure-time accident. If temporary transport is required due to an accident that occurred at school, the school will arrange the transport when necessary.
