Passenger harbour

The Kuopio passenger harbour is the busiest port in the Vuoksi watercourse. You can take popular day cruises to Saaristokaupunki and around Vaajasalo from the harbour. There is regular services to the Alahovi vineyard and the Rauhalahti camping grounds. There are also regular scheduled services between Kuopio and Savonlinna.

At the end of 2020, the City of Kuopio completed an expansion project at the passenger harbour, in which the current breakwater at Kauppakatu was extended and a separate pier for restaurant ships was built. New boat quays and boat platforms have also been built. The aim of the expansion project is to strengthen the role of Kuopio as the most important tourist city in the Saimaa region and in the whole Lakeland region.

The same project also included building an event field and allocating construction sites for building projects, one of which is a sauna world project.
