Building site marking (terrain marking)

In building site marking the location of the building is marked at the construction site.

The site  marking can only be ordered once the building permit has been granted. Also check that site marking is a requirement in the permit regulations.

Timing of building site marking

The building site marking (terrain marking) must be ordered before the actual construction work begins.

The time of the marking measurement should be chosen so that the construction area has been cleared, the surface soil has been peeled and any gravel mattress has been spread out.

However, do not start earthmoving work at the construction site if the boundaries are unclear. If the boundaries of the construction site are unclear, you can order a boundary marking by email from kiinteistonmuodostus@kuopio.fi.

Please take into account in construction project scheduling that the service will be closed from December 22, 2025 to January 6, 2026.

• Survey requests for site markings should be ordered well in advance of Christmas and New Year to ensure they are completed before the closure period.

• During the closure, no site markings will be carried out.

• Orders for markings submitted via the electronic form will be processed and carried out starting January 7, 2026.

Location review

The location review can be ordered when the exterior walls of the building are in place.

In the location review the building’s location and elevation are being checked.

Fees

Fees for building control measurements are being charged together with the building permit fee.
