Hietasalo
Hietasalo, also called Kuopio Riviera, is located in the Kuopio National Urban Park. The distance from the passenger harbour to the island of Hietasalo is about 5 kilometers. You can get there by your own boat and in the summer by the passenger ship. In addition to the best beaches in the city, the island has fine rock areas and groves. There are two hiking trails on the island, the total length of which is about three kilometers.
In August 2022, a new large hut was opened in Hietasalo, comprising a building of approximately one hundred square metres and an adjacent terrace of the same size. Unobstructed access from the pier has been built into the hut. The hut can also be booked for private events, more information can be found on the hut’s destination page. In addition to the hut, the island has a lean-to, cooking shelter and campfire site. There is also a toilet and a waste disposal point on the island.
Hietasalo has nature trails about 3 km long. Nature trails are marked on the Retkikartta.fi
