Traffic planning
The principle of the city’s traffic planning is that all traffic parties can cope smoothly in traffic. Traffic safety will be improved, for example, by adapting driving speeds to the traffic environment and street classification.
The development of traffic safety is monitored with the help of feedback from customers and traffic accident data reported by the police.
The combined share of walking and cycling in the Kuopio urban area is approximately 43%. In the future, the importance of walking and cycling in urban traffic will be further emphasised.
