Culture Companions for senior citizens
Are you interested in culture and want to help older residents enjoy it, too? Become a Culture Companion!
Culture Companions are volunteers trained by the City of Kuopio who are interested in culture. Senior citizens may request a Culture Companion to accompany them to a cultural attraction or event.
All 60+year-olds in Kuopio can request a voluntary Culture Companion to accompany them to cultural activities. Their request and contact details are forwarded to the Culture Companion, who then calls the resident to agree on the details of the visit. The resident only pays for their own travel costs and tickets.
Culture Companion attractions
Culture Companions can accompany senior citizens to the following attractions: Kuopio City Theatre, Kuopio Art Museum, Kuopio Museum, Old Kuopio Museum, Kuopio City Library and local libraries, VB Photography Centre, Kuopio City Orchestra, Kuopio Conservatory, RIISA – Museum of the Finnish Orthodox Church, and Kuvakukko/Hopeatähti Film Club. Plus all the free events organised by the City.
