Impact assessment in the decision-making of the City of Kuopio
Impact assessment is important, as the City’s decisions always have a direct or indirect impact on people, the environment, the economy, and businesses. The best way to carry out ex ante impact assessment is to integrate it in the preparatory and decision-making processes.
The ex ante impact assessment in Kuopio’s decision-making was approved by the Mayor’s management group on 9 September 2022. Impact assessment is carried out for institutional decisions.
The impact assessment of a decision includes the following:

- Impact on the environment and climatic impact
- Impact on local government finances and personnel
- Impact on businesses
