Kuopio Rural Development Programme 2022–2030
Over 90% of the land area of the City of Kuopio is located in rural areas. In 2021, 24,050 people lived in the rural areas of Kuopio, about one fifth of all Kuopio residents. Kuopio Rural Development Programme 2022–2030 is a rural policy tool that contains defined objectives and measures for developing Kuopio’s rural areas, prepared together with rural actors. The City Council approved the Kuopio Rural Development Programme on 16 May 2022 (section 30).
The Rural Development Programme specifies and implements the Kuopio 2030 strategy. The Rural Development Programme is reviewed each council term as part of the City’s strategy process. The implementation of the Programme is monitored once a year.
