Outdoor lighting
Mestar Kuopio Oy is responsible for the maintenance of the central urban area, sports facilities and routes and outdoor lighting in the fields.
In rural communities (Juankoski, Karttula, Kurkimäki, Maaninka, Nilsiä, Riistavesi, Vehmersalmi), maintenance is the responsibility of Elvera Oy.
Due to savings targets, maintenance of individual sites is carried out in connection with maintenance rounds. The exterior lights are serviced twice a year.
If the entire street, intersection or bus stop is dark, the lighting will be fixed as soon as possible. The aim is also to correct flashing lights alongside other work. Life-threatening issues (removed hatches, collision sites, storm damage) are repaired immediately.
Due to service rounds and repairs, it is also necessary to turn on lights in different areas during daytime in order to locate burnt lamps and faults.
Notifications about a broken street light or other fault are made via the electronic feedback service, where the fault notification can be marked directly on the map. At the same time, it is ascertained whether the same fault has already been reported.
