Coffee and Wellbeing

The City of Kuopio and its partners invite you to our Coffee and Wellbeing events! The afternoon coffee event involves discussions and presentations on various themes related to wellbeing. The aim is to talk about different topical themes, share expertise, discover new partnerships, deepen cooperation and come up with solutions for promoting wellbeing. 

The Coffee and Wellbeing event is meant, especially, for the employees of the City of Kuopio and the North Savo wellbeing services county, representatives of educational institutions, actors in the security sector, organisations and clubs, and all those interested in the promotion of wellbeing. 

Coffee and Wellbeing is organised three times in the spring and autumn, always on the last Thursday of the month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. In 2023, the afternoon coffee events are organised on 26 January, 23 February, 30 March, 28 September, 26 October and 30 November 2023.

28 September 2023: Ways to promote everyday physical activity

At the afternoon coffee event, Virpi Kuvaja-Köllner, Ph.D. (Health Sci.), explains the observations made in her dissertation concerning the promotion of everyday physical activity. In addition, Salla Lommi, Service Coordinator at the Savonian Wellness Center, explains how cooperation with educational institutions can be utilised in the promotion of mobility.  Join the afternoon coffee event here: Join the meeting by clicking here

30 March 2023: Kuopio in Motion and CultureKuopio programmes     

Coffee and Wellbeing focuses on the tentative plans for the Kuopio in Motion and CultureKuopio programmes. The programmes serve as guidelines for the promotion of physical and cultural activities in Kuopio until 2030. Collaboration and the needs of the residents form the common thread of the programmes. The programmes are presented to us by Kati Vähäsarja, Head of Civic Services at the City of Kuopio.  Material presented at the event:

23 February 2023: Organisations, municipalities and wellbeing services counties as promoters of wellbeing

An organisation survey carried out in North Savo mapped the wellbeing and health promotion work, target groups, cooperation and resources of organisations operating in the North Savo region. The results of the survey and topical issues related to cooperation between organisations, municipalities and the wellbeing services county, such as grants, will be discussed at the February Coffee and Wellbeing event. The event includes the deputy manager for the promotion of health and wellbeing and inclusion Säde Rytkönen and organisation secretary Sirpa Kononen.       Material presented at the event: Results of the Organisations as Promotors of Wellbeing survey                       

26 January 2023: Promoting wellbeing as part of the city’s strategy

The strategy of Kuopio was updated in 2022. The strategy envisions Kuopio as the capital of good life. The Happy and Healthy Kuopio programme and the Kuopio Wellbeing Report and Plan serve as practical tools for implementing the strategy. Sirpa Lätti-Hyvönen, Strategy Director at Kuopio, talks about Kuopio’s updated strategy from the perspective of wellbeing promotion, while Tanja Tilles-Tirkkonen, Coordinator of Wellbeing Promotion, discusses how the Wellbeing Report and Plan are used as a guideline in the organisation the activities.

24 November 2022: Towards a balanced relationship with food

The afternoon coffee event focuses on how a good relationship with food can be supported and how food-related challenges can be discussed and handled. The experts at the event are Coordinator Niina Pitkänen from The Eating Disorder Association of Finland and Project Specialist Suvi Björkqvist from the Ähky project/Toimiva ry.  

29 September 2022: UNICEF’s Child-Friendly Cities Initiative in Kuopio

Kuopio is part of the UNICEF’s Child-Friendly Cities Initiative. The model helps ensure that the voices of children and young people are heard and that they have an opportunity to have a say. It also supports decision-making that aims at implementing the best solutions for the well-being of children in children’s services and municipal administration.
