Special grants for organisations to cover energy costs 2023

The Board for the Promotion of Wellbeing (Hyvinvoinnin edistämisen lautakunta) decided on new discretionary forms of financial assistance in their meeting on 22 February 2023.

The energy costs of private facilities used for recreational activities have risen considerably during 2022 and 2023. The rise of costs is reflected as an increase in the rent charged to non-profit organisations, which also reflects on the fees charged to users of the facilities.

The non-profit organisations that offer facilities for public use have experienced increased costs, which has in turn impaired their ability to maintain their facilities, thus making activities for the public less available.

To offer a solution for this challenging period, new forms of financial assistance are introduced in order to

a) help prevent a rise in fees of hobbies and activities for children and young people

b) help organisations to maintain their facilities and keep their organisations in operation
