Grants for ice sports training facility expenses
The Service Area for Wellbeing Promotion now accepts applications for grants to cover the booking expenses related to ice sports training facilities.
For the spring and summer season of 1 January – 31 August 2023, advance applications must be submitted by 23 February 2023 and the actual applications by 4 September 2023. For the autumn season of 1 September – 31 December 2023, advance applications must be submitted by 4 September 2023 and the actual applications by 4 December 2023.
Applicants must be Kuopio-based registered associations that organise ice sports activities for children and young people (under 18 years of age) and have been allocated practise sessions in the city ice arena and in the Tuplajäät rinks during 2023.
Applicant eligibility criteria
The applicants must be registered associations operating in Kuopio.
Grant allocation criteria
The calculation of the amounts granted to individual associations is primarily based on the ratios of the associations’ eligible training facility booking expenses. The average amount of costs incurred by the applicants for their practice sessions during the previous year is also taken into account. The grant percentage depends on the number of applications and the amount of appropriation.
For ice sports for children and young people, the aim is for the grants to cover 60–70% of the training facility expenses.
Eligible expenses include rent paid for ice arenas for the purposes of arranging practice sessions or matches. Expenses related to arranging training camps are not eligible.
Applications for advance grants
Associations can also apply for advance grants. Applicants must be registered associations in Kuopio which organise ice sports activities for children and young people (under 18 years of age) and which have been allocated practice sessions.
A maximum of 70% of the amount of appropriation reserved for covering training facility expenses for the year in question can be paid in advance to eligible applicants. If the advance payment exceeds the final grant amount, the city will recover the excess amount. Applications for the advance grant must be submitted by the last working day of August.
Failure to comply with grant guidelines
If the applicant violates the guidelines or deliberately misreports their information, the awarded or already paid grant will be recovered in full.
